Dear NYTB & NYTB School Community,

Given omicron's impressive ease of spread and its intense surge in NYC, we ask that you follow the rules below to keep our community safe. We have consulted with a top pulmonologist in the city and described NYTBS’s context, including its constituents ranging from ages 4-75.

1. Make sure that your child wears a surgical, KN95 or N95 mask in the studio and be sure the mask fits properly (HERE is a video that shows how to knot the mask to close gaps). Epidemiologists have determined that cloth masks do little to protect from omicron.

2. If your child tests positive for COVID, be sure s/he isolates and that you notify NYTBS so that we can inform classmates about possible exposure. In order to return to in-person classes at the studio, your child must wait 12 days (Day 0 being the day s/he received a positive test or the day symptoms first appeared) and must have 2 negative test results (rapid test or PCR).

3. If your child is considered a close contact (defined as being less than 6-feet away for a total of 15+ minutes in a 24-hour period — this means 2 close conversations of 8 minutes each during the day qualifies as a close contact) of an individual who tests positive for COVID, NYTBS requires your child to test on days 3 and 5 (rapid or PCR). If both tests are negative, s/he is welcome to return to in-studio classes.

Please let us know if you have any questions. We hope that this is the last of the major battles against COVID, and that the course of this variant will quickly resolve as it did in South Africa. Our vigilance will help us to that end.

NYTB School continues to monitor the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic. At this time the School is open and offering classes in studio and online via Zoom. The studio is equipped with hospital grade air filters, and is constantly cleaned and sanitized by our staff. If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to reach out to us at
