
Elena Zahlmann
Associate Artistic Director/Dancer
Elena Zahlmann joined New York Theatre Ballet in 2000, first as a dancer and then continuing as Associate Artistic Director. As a principal dancer she has been featured in classic masterworks by Frederick Ashton, Merce Cunningham, Agnes de Mille, José Límon, Jerome Robbins, and Antony Tudor. She has originated roles in premieres by contemporary choreographers Sir Richard Alston, Nicolo Fonte, Clove Galilee, Liza Gennaro, Keith Michael, Matthew Neenan, David Parker, Marco Pelle, and Pam Tanowitz. As a guest artist she has performed with The Bang Group, Mabou Mines, and David Gordon’s Pick-Up Performance Company. She has appeared with The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall in holiday and Broadway tribute concerts, Shakespeare in the Park with the Public Theater, and A Charlie Brown Christmas– LIVE! with the San Francisco Symphony. Regional theater credits include soloist roles in productions of Oklahoma! and The King & I. Presently, after having worked with the late Gemze DeLappe and Sallie Wilson, Ms. Zahlmann is a répétiteur staging works by Agnes de Mille for The De Mille Working Group.
