Genaro Freire was born and raised in Guayaquil Ecuador. After graduating high school at the age of 17 he started studying dance with ballet master Freddy Rivadeneira. Later he attended Escuela de Ballet Inge Bruckman del Teatro Centro de Arte under the direction of Rosario Delgado and danced the roles Colas from La Fille Mal Gardée, Blue Bird variation from Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake pas de trois, Paquita pas de trois, and Prince in Snow White choreographed by Russian Ballet Masters Tatiana Petrova and Vladislav Kuramshin. He was also awarded scholarships to attend two workshops lead by Roberto Rodriguez from Miami City Ballet. After only two years of ballet study he moved to New York City and was accepted into the Joffrey Ballet Concert Group under the direction of Davis Robertson. With JCG he toured all over the East Coast, Canada and China performing works by Gerald Arpino including Light Rain, Viva Vivaldi, Kettentanz, and Suite Saints Saens, as well as other works by George Balanchine and Robert Battle. In his time at JCG he worked with choreographers Africa Guzman, Tyler Gilsptrap, and Gabrielle Lamb. In his last year at the Joffrey Ballet he worked alongside dancers of Complexions and performed an excerpt of Rise by Dwight Rhoden. For the last three years he has been a guest artist in Delta Festival Ballet’s The Nutcracker in New Orleans, Louisiana.
