Alonso Guzman, native Puerto Rican began physical training at the age of 8 through martial arts. After successfully reaching black belt and winning first prize in the 2006 US Open Mix Martial Arts, he showed interest in dance. He began dancing seriously at 15 and soon won a scholarship to study at Alvin Ailey. He worked as dance demonstrator for Mr. Myers’ Modern Dance Classes at The Juilliard School, The Ailey School and Steps on Broadway. Later, he danced professionally for internationally acclaimed organizations such as Ballet Hispanico I and II, and The Metropolitan Opera. Alonso joined NYTB in the fall of 2018.
